A . Proposal

The task is to create a proposal based on the options from the module then make a proposal proposing for our chosen 3 topics.
type exploration and application

Mr. Vinod told my idea was not suitable to the requirements but told me to go with stencil fonts, I took the font Arial black and modified it to modern geometrical theme font.

B. Sketches and ideation

First I exported my sketches to Illustrator and I digitised them , I am only doing capital letters, symbols and numbers.

Trial and error of small letters which did not really work well , then I proceeded to balance out my letterforms .

Another trial and error of symbols and numbers

After much understanding and feedback , I finalised my letterforms and began to import them to fontlab 7.

Process and trials of my font in Fontlab

Adding my capital letters first

Once Im done with my letters, I moved on to numbers and symbols

Process of spacing the numbers evenly, same process done for alphabets and symbols.

After finishing everything , I tested out my fonts to see if it is working properly or not. Below are the screengrab of my typing .

But the most tricky part was the error in transporting certain letters like b , d , & . numbers like 6.9.0 but I managed to fix it by exporting the file to svg and importing it into fontlab.

Once I finished my font, I exported it to my illustrator and began to do font representation and application .

process of font presentation . (did not capture for application)

7. Reflection

Experiences

I would say this was the most difficult part even though I have used fontlab in semester 1 but this time since the license expired, i had a tough time exporting my fonts, i used many different devices to download it but overall I had a good yet tiring experience. I gained alot of knowledge on kerning, spacing, leading and much more.

Observation

I observe how unique everyone's brain is when I look at my peer's works. It inspires me alot. Every task teaches me how to observe more

Findings

I always learn a lot from Mr. Vinod in his classes because I see him thinking creatively and critically, even though i try to follow, I fail but i believe practice makes perfect. Sometimes I complete my tasks without proper research but in upon completing each tasks I learn how important research is and how much it can change your perspective and point of view.
