Experience
This task served as an effective introduction to the module, as it allowed me to understand the fundamentals of sound editing through the process of dubbing a video clip. It also helped me become more comfortable using Adobe Premiere Pro. I enjoyed reconstructing the audio by synchronising sound recordings with the visuals to create a realistic outcome. The most enjoyable part for me was sourcing, recording, and pairing suitable sounds with specific actions and environments shown in the clip. On the other hand, adjusting audio levels and pitch required a lot of fine-tuning, which felt repetitive and time-consuming at times.
Observations
While working on this exercise, I became aware of how detailed and layered the dubbing process is, even for a short clip. Achieving accurate sound required multiple recording attempts to ensure that each audio element aligned naturally with the visuals. I also observed that Premiere Pro offers a wide range of tools that support sound editing, and learning how to use these features made the overall workflow more efficient and manageable.
Findings
This task helped me gain a deeper understanding of the role of sound in filmmaking and how it contributes to storytelling. It changed my perception of voice acting, as I realised that it demands strong performance skills rather than just reading lines. Additionally, I discovered how essential ambient sound is in establishing mood and realism. Initially, I underestimated its importance, but once background audio was added, the scene felt more immersive and believable. Overall, this experience sparked a stronger interest in video and sound production, and I am eager to continue exploring filmmaking, editing techniques, and possibly producing my own video projects in the future.
