TASK 1 | VORMATOR CHALLENGE ( CHARACTER CREATION )
Week 1 : Introduction to Vormator Challenge
We were given only 8 shapes to be used to create our character without stretching nor altering the shapes.
This task is assigned to improve on our proportion, balance, color, and composition.
8 vormator shapes given
Week 2 : Tracing the shapes
Week 2 we had some tutorials and guiding from Mr. Hafiz on how to trace the shapes properly. I struggled the most on the cobra and tentacle because using the pen tool to fit the trace properly was a bit difficult but with the help of Mr. Hafiz I got to trace them perfectly and move on to sketching my character design.
I initially did 3 characters and I went with 3rd character as a final because I felt like it had more stronger silhouette compared to others.
Character 3 was chosen as starflower looking character with a mixture of monstrous look. I named it Blossom. Despite the monstrous look , my character never failed to give a flower blooming effect.
Week 3 : Final Silhouette

I chose 3 shades of red and pink to keep the fundamentals of a flower's colour and I used the chevron shapes to implicate the Patels of flowers with the tentacle shapes combined together. Besides that, the tentacle shapes were used for eyelashes , Meanwhile the zerk and badge shapes were combined to make teeth and Wurst as a mouth.
Overall I am very satisfied with my character as it's my first time creating one I think I did my best and Mr. Hafiz was so helpful as well, very patient in teaching us one by one. I hope I can learn more and improve on my overall illustrator skills and use it correctly in my upcoming assignments.
Final silhouette submission & extra submission of Blossom
